On Friday, July 23rd, #VaxUpWestchester partnered with Open Door Medical Center and Hudson Pharmacy to administer vaccines to Ossining residents at Cravin' Jamaican restaurant and also distributed useful vaccine information and literature. Thank you to all who helped this event be successful!

Through partnering with Healthsmart Pharmacy, residents of Ossining and the surrounding communities received vaccinations and helpful information on Sunday, July 25th at the Star of Bethlehem Church.

#VaxUpWestchester arrived at multiple ice cream socials hosted by the Municipal Housing Authority for the City of Yonkers at residential complexes in Downtown and Southwest Yonkers on July 27. We were joined by our tireless vaccination partners, Dr. Lawrence Neshiwat and Dr. Reeham Neshiwat of Yonkers. Numerous residents in and around the facilities received their first dose of Moderna, and as you'll see in these images and video clips, were relieved and elated. Delta is scary, but we can defeat it. Let's #VaxUpWestchester!

Another successful event this afternoon at Palisade Towers in Yonkers, NY with dozens of residents receiving vaccine doses! Multilingual VUW volunteers were on hand to answer questions, address concerns, and distribute helpful materials.

Thank you to MHACY Palisade Towers Tenant Council, OVAC, and Lieutenant Governor of NY Andrea Stewart-Cousins for all of your help and support.

On August 10th, our team of medical professionals answered questions and concerns from a live audience. They discussed booster shots, mask wearing at school, and the importance of children getting vaccinated before the school year.

On August 22nd, infectious disease specialist Anisha Mathur, MD and volunteer Lindsey Smith met for a vaccine information session. Throughout the session, they answered live questions on some of the most pressing topics right now. From boosters to the science behind the vaccine, Dr. Mathur helped cover it all. #VaxUpWestchester, Sun River Health and Peekskill NAACP joined forces to vaccinate 35 residents of Peekskill outside the CTown La Placita supermarket on a hot Sunday afternoon on September 12. The first two Town of Greenburgh Farmers Markets on Sept. 30 and Oct. 7 were great successes! #VaxUpWestchester was thrilled to help the incredible staff of Mt. Vernon Neighborhood Health Center educate and vaccinate dozens more residents of 10550 on October 21. Despite rosier, cherrypicked statistics, neighborhoods like 10550 are still only narrowly majority vaccinated and need all of our help!

#VaxUpWestchester was thrilled to join forces once again with the Municipal Housing Authority for the City of Yonkers and the incredible staff of the office of Dr. Lawrence Neshiwat to help vaccinate nearly 60 more residents of the Calcagno Homes and Palisade Towers communities last week as part of their Fall Festivals, as well as engage and educate scores more. The incredible city of Yonkers continues to battle high case counts. #VaxUpWestchester was thrilled to work with MHACY and Dr. Lawrence Neshiwat to turn up again at Calcagno Homes on 11/30/21 and educate, vaccinate and boost kids and adults from the neighborhood alike. This work will continue as long as is necessary.

#VaxUpWestchester conducted an Instagram Live Q&A for all Westchester residents (and beyond) with several medical experts on Dec. 5. We highly encourage you to share it with everyone in your communities. It was led by our remarkable student-volunteer Lindsey Smith, and featured incredibly helpful insights from Westchester-based clinicians Maura Frank, MD; Carol Allen, MD; and Lawrence Neshiwat, MD.

On December 21, despite the surge of Omicron, #VaxUpWestchester and its partners Dr. Lawrence Neshiwat, Municipal Housing Authority for the City of Yonkers and Yonkers PD vaxxed and boosted 50 residents of the 10701 community in Yonkers, while handing out holiday gifts and spreading love. The spirit of community and volunteerism will not stop.

On February 26, 2022, #VaxUpWestchester held its first in-person vaccine/outreach event of the New Year, nearly a calendar year since its first-ever event in 2021. In collaboration with Mt. Vernon Neighborhood Health Center and RXR Realty, we helped vaccinate and boost nearly two dozen members of the 10550 community in Mt. Vernon (while dialoguing and sharing good information with scores more), where the vaccination rates remain far below neighboring towns and cities and below the national average. We cannot give up until everyone is equitably protected against current and future variants of this virus and has a baseline of confidence in, and access to, public-health resources now and ongoing.
